Book Review: THE PRINCE’S STUBBORN BRIDE (Royal Romance Book 2) by Devika Fernando

I have read a number of books by Devika Fernando and have liked them all. And then she came up with the Royal Romance series. Keen to read these, I received a copy of Book 1 from the author – The Prince’s Special Bride – and enjoyed reading that one too.

At the end of Book 1, I discovered Chapter 1 of Book 2 of the series – The Prince’s Stubborn Bride. I had to buy the book. I did just that and I must say that I wasn’t disappointed at all.

As a regular reader of the author’s books, I must say her writing has matured really well over time and this book is a sure fire winner.

Princess Olivia who we met in Book 1, is widowed when her husband, the Prince of Visteria, dies in a car accident. She’s under tremendous pressure from the elderly minister and his cabinet to get married to Prince Sebastian who is considered a black sheep. Black sheep or no, Sebastian is still accepted as the heir presumptive to the kingdom because he’s a male. But Olivia could be stubborn, refusing to get married and doing her best to run the kingdom single-handed. She works hard at bringing order to the chaos in the kingdom, with Prince Sebastian’s unexpected support. But what of the increasing attraction she feels for Prince Sebastian? Is he really what everyone thinks he is? Is he as indifferent to the people of his kingdom as he appears to be? Read the book to find out more.

Phew! I just loved every word of the book. It has all the ingredients for a perfect royal romance—the right amount of romantic build up and steam peppered with intrigue and excellent characters.

The author has portrayed the relationship between Olivia and Sebastian so beautifully, building it up notch by notch, calling out to the romantic in me. To be truthful, I felt a little envious of the way Devika Fernando has handled the steamy relationship. Yes, I would like to write like this—very much.

VERDICT: A must read if you are a romance addict. I am one.
